Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug with Floral made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70.
Circa 1880, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and an Elaborate Floral drawn with a Slip Cup. Appears to be a butterfly landing on the stem of rose. Strong cobalt blue. Stands 15 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor surface wear. Otherwise as made!
