Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this very early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "H. & G. Nash, Utica."
This is the work of Henry Nash and his brother or father, George Nash, ran the pottery together in Utica, New York from 1832-1837 (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, pp. 289-90).
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Tall Rim with Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Tooled Shoulder, and a Brushed Cobalt "2" Capacity Number and Left Leaning Tulip. Stands 11" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip on the outside of the rim on each side, and a faint line across the bottom coming up 1" on each side. No inner rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration. A stone ping below the capacity number in the making.
