Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by the "Hudson New York Pottery."

 

This pottery belonged to the brothers Edward and John Roche who ran it on West 12th Street from 1849 to 1858 when it was sold to Louis Lehman and then to William MacQuoid (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, pp. 61-62). 

 

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp Brushed with Cobalt, and a Fancy "2" Capacity Number.  Stands 13" tall. 

 

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  A 1" vertical groove near the base in the making.
