Item 12262
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Large 5 Gallon Stoneware Crock with Chicken Pecking Corn.
This is likely the work of Samuel Brady and John J. Ryan who ran their pottery in Ellenville, N.Y. from 1878-1897 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty features a Large Size and an Equally Large Classic Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration. The decoration is executed with shiny cobalt using a slip cup. The chicken is nicely entered and accented with dotted wings and individual tail feathers. There are 30 pieces of corn too! (apparently I do not have enough to do!). Measures 13 1/2" tall and 12" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Some residual water glass staining inside and traces outside. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration
