Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 6 Gallon Stoneware Churn made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Julius Norton and his cousin, Edward Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1850-1859 ( William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 41-44).
This beauty sports a Large 6 Gallon Churn Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Basket of Flowers Decoration in Bright Cobalt Blue. The basket has a diamond pattern and holds a variety of flowers, buds, leaves, and tendrils going in all directions. Stands 18 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1 1/4" chip on the rim by the left handle, and some light staining. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A stone ping on the rim on the left side in the making.
