Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this cute little 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "E. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."
This is the mark of Edward Norton who ran the Norton Pottery in Bennington from 1881-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).
This beauty features a Strong Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Freehand Leaf. The cobalt is shiny and really stands out! Stands 11" tall.
Very Good Condition. A shallow 1/2" chip inside the spout, a 3/8" chip on top of the spout, three 1/4" chips at the base, and some staining frm use. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
