Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Fantastic 1 Gallon Bird Jug made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."   
 
This is the work of Julius Norton and his cousin, Edward Norton who worked in Bennington using this mark from 1850-1859 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp, 42).  
 
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Bird on a Stump Decoration Executed with a Slip Cup Using Dark and Shiny Cobalt.  A Norton classic that is a feast for the eyes!  Stands 11" tall. 
 
Very Good Condition.  Professional Restoration for a 1/2" lamp hole on the underside center.  Otherwise, as made.
