Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Monumental 8 Gallon Double-Handled Jug attributed to the Norton Pottery of Bennington, Vermont.

 

Circa 1860s, this beauty features its unusually Large Size, Equally Unusual Water Cooler Form, and a Huge and Intricate Basket of Flowers Decoration in Bold Cobalt.   The basket has a careful diamond pattern and two handles.  It holds four flowers and 10 leaves.  Additional dots around the spigot opening.  Stands 23" tall.  

 

Very Good Condition.  The right handle has been professionally restored, either reattached or replaced.  Very fine job.  Otherwise as made.  Slight kiln touch in the upper right of the flowers in the making.
