Item 12096

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 3 Gallon Cream Pot made and stamped by "H. Weston, Ellenville, N.Y."

This is the work of Horace Weston, Jr., son of Horace Weston who founded the family pottery in Ellenville in 1829.  He bought out his brother, Daniel, in 1869 and, with Daniel's help, ran the pottery from 1869 to 1875 (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, pp. 140-41).

This beauty featues the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Poppy created with a Clip Cup.  Measures 10" tall and 11" wide across the top.

Good Condition.  Restoration of two 1" chips on the rim (above the right handle and on the back), and for a 2" hairline from the rim in the center back.  The decoration has been entirely augmented with a coating of blue.  No inner rim or base chips, cracks, or stains.
