Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Canning Jar made by "Richey & Hamilton, Palatine, W. VA ."

 

Richey and Hamilton made pottery in Palatine (modern Fairmont) from around 1870-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 100).

 

Dating around 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Rim and Shoulder Accented with a Straight and Squiggle Stripe, and the Company Advertising Surrounding a Floral and Accented with Leaves in the Middle and Underscored by another Squiggle Stripe.  Stands 10" tall.

 

Excellent Condition.  Some wear around the very middle. Otherwise, no chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
