Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made for the merchant "A. Dare & Son, Sistersville, W. VA."  
 
It was made in Southwestern Pennsylvania at either Greensboro or New Geneva. 
 
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Spout and Shoulder and Three Lines of Stenciled Advertising Adorned with Small Decorations.  The stencil is complete and executed in a dark cobalt. Stands 11 1/2" tall. 
 
Very Good Condition.  A chip along the front top of the spout (closeup), and a small Y-shaped craze line on the left shoulder (closeup).  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some glaze runs in the back in the making.
