Item 12082

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous 5 Gallon Stoneware Jar.

The decoration indicates that it was made by Alfred Offord and Edmund Federer of West Brownsvile, Pennsylvania.  They partnered from 1860 to 1866 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, p. 174).

This beauty features Big Grooved Handles, Tooled Center, and Bright and Shiny Cobalt Decoration.  The rim is accented with two broad stripes, the shoulder with a vine with three blossoms, the middle with another broad stripe, and the bottom with a freehand capacity number flanked by two dashes and underscored by two more.  And again, Bright and Shiny Cobalt Decoration.  Stands 15 1/2" tall.

Very Good Condition.  Narrow chips around the inside of the rim, a 1/2" chip on the left handle, and a hairline about 1 1/2"  above the base from side to side on the front of the jar (closeup).  No outer rim or base chips, stains, or restoration.
