Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "Sipe, Nichols & Co., Williamsport, PA."
This is the stamp of William Sipe, Joe Nichols, and Abram Young who ran the pottery on Market Street from 1875-1879 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 62-63).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Spectacular Brushed Cobalt Flower on the Front with Six Large Leaves and a Steeple Blossom. Comes with a lid. Stands 11 1/2" Tall.
Good Condition. A 1/2"'chip on the rim in the front and two small chips on the rim above the right handle. A hairline from below the shoulder to the base and wrapping under 2" on the back (closeup). No inner rim or base chips, stains, or restoration. The lid has a narrow 1/4" chip on the knob and a 2" line on top that does not show on the underside
