Item 11869
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar whose decoration indicates that was probably made by Edmands of Charlestown, Massachusetts.
Edward and Thomas Edmands ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts from 1852-1868 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features a Fancy Floral with a Stem with Dotted Leaves supporting a Blossom with Multiple Thin Petals. The decoration is executed with a slip cup in bright and shiny cobalt. Overall, a simple, but impressive decoration! Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Even heavy wear around the inner lid-seating ring, a 3/4" chip behind the left handle, and a faint 3" Y hairline to the left of the decoration (closeup). No inner rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
