Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."

 

This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania using this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).

 

Thus beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals, and a Brushed Cobalt Branch with 3 Hanging Cherries.  Stands 11 3/8" tall. 

 

Excellent Condition.  A shallow 1/2" flake on top of the rim, and a stain run in the back. That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Some bubbling in the cobalt in the making.
