Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Redware Tub made and Stamped Twice by "John Bell, Waynesboro.
John Bell worked his pottery in Waynesboro, PA from 1833 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 47-50).
This beauty is an Outstanding for its Two Embossed Bands at the Shoulder and Base, Roped Handles, Sponged Manganese under Clear Lead Glaze, and Pottery Stamp Under One Handle and on the Underside. Measures 4 1/2" tall and 9" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Surface wear on the rim and inside at the bottom. A 3/8" chip with a tight 3" hairline below on one side (closeup), and a 1" chip on the underside at the edge. No cracks, stains, or restoration.
