Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Cream Pot made in and stamped "Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports a Cute Small Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Freehand "1" Capacity Number, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip Decoration. The tulip sports three leaves and a blossom with six petals in bright and shiny cobalt. Additional cobalt at the handle terminals. Measures 8 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition with Restoration. A 1" hairline from the rim to the right handle (closeup to the right), a 1" chip under the left handle, and restoration in the center of the base about 2" in diameter (where the small bit of paint has come off). No rim or base chips or stains. A 1" surface drying/firing line in front of the right handle in the making (closeup to the left).
