Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 2 Gallon Milk Bowl made and stamped by "Nathan Porter, West Troy, N.Y."
Nathan Porter made stoneware solo in West Troy (modern Watervliet) from 1841 to 1845 (Willilam Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).
This beauty features a Larger Size, Thick Square Rim, Rounded Footer, Applied Handles, and Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash. Measures 61/4" tall adn 13" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Three chips on the rim in the back (1/4" to 1/2"), and a 6" hairline on the bottom not reaching either side (where the darker streak is). No inner rim chips, stains, or restoration. A stone ping on the right side and back in the making as shown.
