Item 7404
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "O. L. and A. K. Ballard, Burlington, VT."
This is the mark of Orrin and Alfred Ballard who ran the family pottery under this stamp from 1856-1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Sprig of Honeysuckle with Three Blossoms. Ballard decorators loved to loop the leaves and flowers in their artistry as this decoration gives witness. Stands 13 3/4"
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. A salt drip below the decoration, glaze crazing, and three short drying line on the base (closeup)-- all in the manufacture.
