Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "L. Norton, Bennington."

This is the mark of Luman Norton who worked the family pottery from 1828 to 1833 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 42).

This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip.  This is an imposing 3 Gallon size standing 16 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A 7/8" on the back where something attached in the kiln has come off (closeup).  That's it!  No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Four stone pings in the making.  Remarkably clean for being 200 years old!
