Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "O. L. and A. K. Ballard, Burlington, VT."
This is the mark of Orrin and Alfred Ballard who ran the family pottery under this stamp from 1856-1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp and Capacity Number with Cobalt Wash, and a Huge Folk Art Flower in Strong Cobalt Blue. The flower is comprised of two dotted leaves, stem with swirls, and a blossom with a spiral center surrounded by fourteen petals. Stands 14 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A ping on the left side back by the handle (closeup). That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
