Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "O. L. and A. K. Ballard, Burlington, VT."
This is the mark of Orrin and Alfred Ballard who ran the family pottery under this stamp from 1856-1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).
This beauty sports a Larger Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Huge Folk Art Flower in Strong Cobalt Blue. The flower is comprised of dots and feathery leaves. Stands 16" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip on top of the spout and a 1/2" chip on the base in the back. That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A kiln touch on the front in the making.
