Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Norton & Fenton, East Bennington, VT." 

 

This is the work of Julius Norton and his brother-in-law, Christopher Fenton, who were partners in the Norton pottery in Bennington from 1844-1847 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 42). 

 

This beauty features one of the first jugs to have staight sides, an invention of Fenton.  It sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Double Tulip Decoration.  Stands 12 3/4" tall. 

 

Excellent Condition.  A vertical 3" hairline on the front left near the bottom.  Otherwise, as made.
