Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 gallon jar made and stamped by the "Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine."  
 
It is the work of Jerry Beaumont who signed the bottom "JB" 1988 with a Cross.  In my humble opinion, Mr. Beaumont has been and continues to be one of the best contemporary potters in America today.  His work from York, Maine was some of his finest.  
 
This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash, bottom signature, and a Folky Sea Captain in a Lifeboat with Flag upon the Sea.  As you can tell from his stern look, is not happy about being cast adrift!  Folk art executed in stunning artistry and cobalt.  Stands 11 1/4" tall.  
 
Comes from an extensive Massachusetts collection whose owner had personal ties to both the potter.  She gave me the privilege of buying this and many other Beaumont items (including the sign from the York, Maine pottery).
