Item 11880

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug.

The decoration indicates that it is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery in Utica, New York from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware , pp. 69-70).

Dating about 1870, this beauty features a Bird Poised on the Branch of an Orchid.  The bird has a pronouned beak and long tailfeathers. The orchid has four leaves and five buds.  All the decoration is drawn with a slip cup in rich and shiny cobalt.

Very Good Condition.  Some chips around the left side of the spout and some staining on the right shoulder.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
