Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Julius Norton and his cousin Edward Norton who worked together in the family pottery from 1850-1859 ( William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 41-44).
This beauty sports the pottery stamp with cobalt wash and a Cobalt Floral Created with a Slip Cup. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor wear around the inner lid-seating ring, and a minor 1/8" nibble on each handle. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
