Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."   
 
This is the work of Julius Norton and his cousin, Edward Norton who worked in Bennington using this mark from 1850-1859 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 42).  
 
This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash, and a Classic Norton Floral Decoration. A large center blossom is accompanied by a smaller blossom, leaves, and dots, with a small bow tying it all together at the bottom. Dark and rich cobalt too!  Stands 15 1/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition. An 1/8" nibble on the spout and some light staining on the shoulder.  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
