Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful and uncommon Half Gallon Wax Sealer Canning Jar made by "J. E. Eneix, New Geneva, PA. "
This is the mark of James Eneix who made stoneware in New Geneva for the brief period of 1874-1876 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 165). Eneix stoneware is not commonly seen due to the brief period of manufacture.
This beauty features the Wax Sealer Form, Canted Sides, Company Advertising Hugging a Sheaf of Wheat. All the decoration is complete and executed in bold and dark cobalt blue. Stands 8" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two minor 1/8" nibbles inside the rim, a surface ping line on the back at the bottom (closeup), and scattered light staining from use. That's it! No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
