Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "E. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."
This is the mark of Edward Norton who ran the Norton Pottery in Bennington from 1881-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).
This beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Stylized Floral Bouquet created with a Slip Cup and Brush Using Gorgeous Cobalt. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A couple minor 1/8" nibbles on top of the spout, and four small chips on the underside at the edge (1/4" to 3/8"). No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some surface drying lines on the spout and handle in the making.
