    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."

     

    This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).

     

    This beauty features a Larger Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Bird on a Leaf Executed with a Brush in Strong Cobalt.  The birdie is 9" from from the tip of its beak to the tip of its tailfeathers.  Stands 14 3/4" tall. 

     

    Very Good Condition. A 3/8" chip on the left side of the spout back by the handle, and a couple light stains.  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
