Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).
This beauty features a Stately Tall and Narrow Form, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Stylized Floral in Bright Cobalt. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Four small chips on the spout (1/8" to 1/4") and some light scattered staining. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
