Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Brushed Cobalt Leaf. The decoration is executed with bold and shiny cobalt. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor nibbles inside the rim, a 1" chip on the underside, and a dime-size stain. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
