Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this attractive 1 Gallon Lidded Preserve Jar with Floral.
The decoration indicates that this is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports a Tooled Rim and Shoulder with Seating Ring inside to hold a Lid, and a Folky Double Tulip Decoration Created with a Slip Cup and Brush. The floral boasts four center leaves and two blossoms with two large petals each. Strong cobalt too! Stands 9 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A faint 5" horizontal hairline near the base, partially showing inside (closeup). Otherwise, as made.
