Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 6 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "S. Hart, Fulton."
This is the stamp of Samuel Hart who potted in Fulton, New York with this stamp from 1840-1876 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features a Larger Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Swipe, Freehand Capacity Number "6" riding a Tornado, and a Double Dotted Lovebird Decoration. This style of bird was a signature decoration for this potter. Bold cobalt! Measures 12 3/4" tall and 13 1/2" wide across the top.
Good Condition. A line around the base of the back of the left handle (closeup), a 1 1/2" chip on the underside at the edge, and some glaze flakes on the right side toward the back and back near the bottom as shown. No rim chips, body hairlines or cracks, stains, or restoration.
