Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 1 Gallon Stoneware Merchant Jar made for "W. McG. Hall, Dealer in General Merchandise, New Martinsville, W. A.".  
 
Circa 1880 and made in Southwest Pennsylvania, this beauty features Two Stripes at the Top and One at the Bottom Framing 6 Lines of Stenciled Advertising.  Stands 10 1/4" tall.
 
I can find no electronic record of any other piece of stoneware made for this merchant. 
 
Fair to Good Condition. A crack on the front right from the rim down to near the bottom of the right side (closeup 1), and a hairline on the back from the shoulder to the base and under to form a small T on the underside (closeup 2).  No chips, stains, or restoration.
