Item 11204
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this rare 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock with Star from Ohio.
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Five-Pointed Star. The star has been scribed into the clay and all the points filled with impressed dots. The center of the star has criss-crossed lines with cobalt dots and the entire star is outlined with fine cobalt dots. Not something I have ever seen before. The star is 5" wide and 4 1/2" tall. The entire crock is 11 1/4" tall and 11 1/4" wide across the top.
Good Condition. Some water glass rings inside and some staining outside from use. A 2 1/2" amateur chip restoration on the rim behind the left ear and a 3 1/2" one in front with a 3" line below (closeup). No base chips, cracks, or restoration.
