Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped for the merchant, "A. B. Wheeler & Co., Boston, Mass."  
 
Wheeler's grocery store was located on 69 Broad Street. 
 
The decoration indicates that this piece was probably made in Fort Edward around 1880.
 
This beauty features the Company Advertising Crisply Impress and Washed with Cobalt Wash on the Shoulder and a Bright Cobalt Freehand Leaf on the Front.  Stands 11 1/2" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  A narrow 3/8" sliver chip on the right side of the spout, and some staining from use.  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  A  small stone ping on the back bottom and some mottling in the glaze in the making.
