Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this majestic 5 Gallon Double-Handled Jug made and stamped by "Wm. E. Warner, West Troy."

 

This is the mark of William E. Warner who ran a pottery in West Troy, N.Y. in the 1840's and 1850's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 67-68).

 

This beauty features the Coveted Double-Handled Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip.  The tulip has 10 base leaves, a curvy stem with 6 leaves and a bud, and a blossom with 6 petals and 4 Dots in the Middle.  Stands 17 1/2" tall. 

 

Excellent Condition.  A surface ping line on the right handle (closeup) and minor 3/8" chip on the base.  That's it!  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
