Item 1153
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
This beauty features the pottery stamp and one of White's signature decorations: an Orchid Executed with a Slip Cup. The orchid has two leaves with horizontal striping, and a blossom with two petals with vertical striping. Gorgeous! Stands 11" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two chips at the base (3/8", 5/8") and some staining near the bottom from use. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Two kiln touches on the left side and a stone ping on the back in the making.
