Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70.
Circa 1880, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and Bird with Long Tail Poised on a Branch Decoration. Strong cobalt blue. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition with Professional Restoration. A 1/4" chip on the left handle and two chips at the base (1/4", 1/2"). Restoration for a 4" line from the rim on the back to the left by the handle that overdid it to include the entire back. No rim chips, or any visible hairlines, cracks, or stains.
