Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Decoration. 
 
The form and decoration make it easy to attribute this pitcher to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
 
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Tooled Tall Neck with Rounded Rim with Two Brushed Cobalt Leaves on Each Side of the Spout and Comma Vining on Each Side, and a Bulbous Base with Tooled Footer Sporting a Standing Tulip on the Front and a Sideways Tulip on Each Side.  Dark and bright cobalt was used throughout the decoration.  Additional cobalt at the handle terminals.  Stands 9 1/4" tall. 
 
Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
