Item 11474

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Batter Jug with Tin Lids.

The decoration indicates that it was made by Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery in Utica, New York from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).

This beauty features a Brushed Cobalt Orchid Decoraton on a Diagonal Across the Front.  It retains its original bail handle and tin lids on top and on the spout.  The top tin is unusual in having a built in funnel!  Stands 9 3/4" tall.

Excellent Condition. Two chips on the bottom roll of the tooled rim (1/4", 1/2") and a minor 1/4" flake on the base.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  The top tin has had a couple mends with newer solder- on the skirt joint and around the funnel base.
