Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by the "Whites Utica N.Y."
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
Dating about 1870, this beauty features a Large Freehand Orchid Plant in Strong Cobalt! It has two striped leaves, three blossoms, six buds, and some dots. Measures 10 1/2" tall and 11 1/4" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Two chips on the left handle (1/4", 1"), a few small and light stains, and some old glaze flakes on the back at the bottom as shown. No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
