Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
 
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
 
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and one of White's signature decorations: The Large Orchid Executed with a Slip Cup. The orchid has two leaves and a blossom with two petals, all accented with elaborate stripes.  The decoration was executed in rich cobalt.  Gorgeous!  Stands 13 1/4" tall.  
 
Excellent Condition.  A minor 3/16" chip on the spout.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A faint 1/2" line in the right side of the spout and left side of the base of the handle which appear to be in the firing.  Roughness on the bottom of the left side from the making.
