    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "T. S. Balsley, Manufacturer, Detroit, Mich." (Lightly stamped)

     

    This is the work of Theodore S. Balsley who began to manufacture stoneware in Detroit in 1859 and was still listed as a potter in the Michigan State Gazetteer in 1875 and 1877 (pages from which are included with the crock).

     

    Dating around 1860, this crock features the Pottery Stamp, Three Units of Comma Vining in the Middle, a Freehand Capacity Number at the Base, and Cobalt Accent on the Front of Each Handle.  Measures 10 3/4" tall and 10" wide across the top.

     

    Excellent Condition.  No damage of any kind.
