Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "Swan & States, Stonington." 
 
This is the mark of Ichabod States and Joshua Swan, Jr. who ran the pottery in Stonington from 1823-1835 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 57). 
 
This beauty features an Ovoid Shape, Reeded Neck, and Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash.  Stands 15 1/2" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Three small chips at the rim (1/8" to 1/4"), six chips on the footer (1/4" to 1/2"), and a short 3" vertical hairline on the bottom of the right side (closeup).  No stains or restoration.  A stone ping and a couple straw recesses in the making.
