Item 11581
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 1 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "H. & G. Nash, Utica."
This is the work of Henry and George Nash who ran the old Brayton, Kellogg, and Doolittle pottery in Utica, N.Y. from 1832 to 1839 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 69).
This beauty features the Early Ovoid Form, Short and Squatty Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The dark cobalt on the light gray glaze really makes a pleasing contrast.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind.
This is one of the best Nash Jugs that recall ever seeing. The shape, squatty form, large decoration and exceptional condition put it near the top.
