Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 8" Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "Solomon Bell, Strasburg, VA."
Solomon Bell was one of the most famous of the Bell Family Potters, working as a potter in Strasburg from the early 1850's until his death in 1882 (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 373-74).
This beauty features an Unusual Form with Flared Rim and Rounded Sides, Pottery Stamp, and two Tulip Blossoms Hanging from Leaves at the Shoulder. Stands 8" tall.
Excellent Condition. A flat 3/8" flake on top of the rim. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
