Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Little 1 Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock made in and stamped with "Lyons." 

 

This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).

 

This beauty sports a Uncommon Butter Crock Form, Small Size, Rim with Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, Pottery Stamp, and a Brushed Cobalt Capacity Number and Two Tulip Blossoms.  The blossoms sprout from a base of five leaves and and each blossom has six petals. Measures 6 1/2" tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top.    

 

Excellent Condition.  A single 1/8" nibble on the right handle and a 1" chip and shallow chips on teh back bottom/underside.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
