Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon and Desirable 3 Gallon Stoneware Merchant Jug made for "Schmidt & Friday, Wines & Liquors, Pittsburgh, PA." 
 
Schmidt & Friday commissioned this jug from a pottery in Southwestern Pennsylvania, most likely R. T. Williams of New Geneva.  
 
Circa 1890, this beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form with Large Capacity Number "3" and the Company Advertising Stenciled Twice Below.  Strong contrast between the gray glaze and dark cobalt.  Stands 15 3/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition. Two minor 1/8" nibbles on the spout and a narrow 1/2" chip on the bottom edge.  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  
 
Ships double-boxed, insured, and FREE
